Do not let someone else run your company for you.

Lawyers and accountants should be treated as staff. They provide advice and guidance. But make your own decisions, and decide what's best for your company. There are times when being absolutely safe is not the right decision. There are times where the business can't afford that additional level of peace of mind. Other times, it's vital to be sure before moving forward.

Depending on who you hire and what their approach is, the advice will be consistent. Some folks will be more aggressive, others will be less. It's your job to figure out what you want to do.

There can be consequences from making poor decisions. It's up to you to decide which consequences you can deal with, and which ones will be treated with care.
